I saw one of the episodes a couple of weeks ago where a few of the guys did NOT go in the house and initiate a personal contact and they were NOT charged. That varies by state.
I do understand what you mean about entrapment. If you take out the PC charged "hoping to meet an underage sex partner" from the equation there is a good chance that more of these would get thrown out. In Ohio, one guy, who felt that his life was already ruined did go to court and fought it on entrapment and won. Most just want to get it behind them [no pun intended] and plead out. Prosecutors depend on that.
Of course now that this show has been on for four years or so, anyone who is still caught for this crime should be put in jail for life, NOT for the Sexual Predator crime, just for being so damned stupid. We really need to clean up the gene pool.
Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
