Why is this the 'righties' fault? Why would this be the 'lefties' fault as well? Why does it always have to be a partisan issue with you? Do you not realize that the government, in itself, is neither democrat nor republican and has proven to be the most inefficient administrator of ANY program? Hell, it's you liberals who want to socialize medicine. This is exactly what YOUR healthcare and mine would look like in 10 years if we put the government in charge of it.
This shit has been going on for over 50 years and, mysteriously, it's NOW an issue? Like it just occurred?
It IS outrageous. It IS sad. But what the hell has been done about it? NOTHING at all for 50 years! But now, it's a problem and it's all the 'righties' fault? Contact your congressman and senators and tell them to get off their asses and do something about it instead of incessantly bitching here about it. I may be mistaken but there are no congressmen or senators here.
AND BTW, if liberal war politicisers succeed in cutting funding AND troops, then you're going to see a hell of a lot more maimed, injured and killed soldiers from Iraq going to this dump heap. I want the boys home, too, but you can't do it by hanging the ones there out to dry. Liberals simply want failure because misplaced opposition would only sink any political chances. It's the ticket to the White House in '08. Any measure of success would be a disaster to liberals because they don't stand for anything but oppose what the righties do. You can't say you support the troops and then, strip them naked.
The issue at hand is, someone, I think he calls himself the "Decider," made a decision to send our soldiers into harm's way. It is apparent there was no plan for that effort beyond knocking Saddam out of his palace. The Decider and his staff of incompetents is directly responsible for the consequences of their poor policy making, poor planning and poor execution. Now, apparently, in the midst of publicity campaign to equate bringing the troops home before the end of the year to Democrats don't support the troops, or resisting sending more troops over there without training and equipment needed to ensure the have the best odds of surviving intact equates to Democrats being against the troops, we find out the tens of thousands of wounded and maimed troops who have come back, are being treated like garbage that has to be taken out by a surly teenager who can't be bothered to attend to his chores. They are left to fester and suffer. Yet this is clearly a case of the same spin machine, trying to hide the returning veterans and ignoring their needs, while seeking ways to send more of our kids over there. Untrained and without the equipent they need to improve their chances of survival, a concept for which no amount of money and resources is too much to convince the American people this equates to supporting the troops.
I for one think the answer is to make this an international problem, send an international force of between half and one million troops in and shut the place down, then slowly start it back up, knowing every person in every house in every town, establishing order and security, utilities and the economy, and then turn something working over to the Iraqis, appologize profusely for fucking the place up, and get out. The United States cannot do this alone, and an increase in troops by 20,000 to some level that already existed and didn't work makes no sense.
It is time to force Bush to reveal the details of his plan, and have it vetted by Congress, our military, intelligence community, the Department of State, our allies, and the friendly Arab nations. I would not believe anything he tells me without proof, and so far his justification that the problem has been we were 20,000 men short, is well, not convincing because it has been non-existent.
The treatment of returning Vets from Iraq is just another symptom of the incompetence of Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice and Bush. Their policy is causing the wounding and maiming. Our Armed Forces depend on volunteers at the moment. You don't inspire young people to volunteer to give their lives for this country by treating the ones who are merely wounded or maimed like a chore no one wants to attend to, akin to garbage that needs to be taken out.
This is not fundamentally a Democratic Party vs. Republican Party issue, it is an incompetence in the executive branch issue, and when the Republican Party rallies in support of this institutionalized incompetence, it becomes a Republican Party vs. America's interests issue, which by default then becomes a Democratic Party vs. Republican Party issue. That does nothing to make the issue any less serious or threatening to the well being of America. Jim
