I am not interested in a federal initiative concerning light bulb preferences. I'm imagining Mr Whipple doing time in Leavenworth for trafficking in lightbulbs.

On second thought, I think the Democrat Party should adopt this as a major plank of their next presidential run.

Bottom line is Mr. Bot wouldn't sacrifice his right to a fucking lightbulb to save his country.

This is why their war is a failure, a war based on greed waged by greedy motherfuckers fails because of their greed.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Mr Whipple should have been sent to Iran years ago as an interrogator to quell the unrest. He would have been the perfect candidate to squeeze the Shah, man.

The hypocrisy here is unbelievable. Families are expected to sacrifice their sons. Citizens are expected to sacrifice their rights, and turn a blind eye to torture and murder. But the real cause of this war is dependence on foreign oil, and at the first mention of any measure to stop our dependence, whether its a tax on gas, fuel mileage standards that would get SUVs off the road or even changing the kind of lightbulb they use, its the end of the world for these guys. We either need to fight a war, or not fight it. Instead, we live in a world of national idiocy where we have no coordinated plan to defeat the enemy that stalks us: dependence on oil supplied to us by nuthouse nations. Instead, we have this schzoid war where domestic conservatives claim they have the right to live the same way we do when we are at peace even though we are at war. A house divided against itself will not stand. These guys are a walking contradiction. Either we are at war, and should be fighting like a nation that is at war, or we are not. Why do these people who put us in and keep us in this war refuse to actually fight it? War is peace, baby.

There is no war, only an unholy invasion to provide fodder for GW's library and bolster Halliburton's pockets. Pretending it's a "war" only goes to legitimize it. As far as central government goes, less is more -- with damned few exceptions.

I thought this was about federal light bulbs . . . only the states have the constitutional power to tell us what kind of light bulbs there should be on Walmart's shelves . . . then again, I may be too enlightened on this one . . .

How simple and cute you are Bot! Apparently there is something you don't understand about how the Islamic fanatics who you want to kill with other people's sacrifice have come to have the resources needed to stalk and successfully kill us, isn't there? As a part of a national strategy to fight back at this force of evil, cutting off their source of funds seems like a more effective measure than pouring American lives into that cesspool called Iraq and flushing them down the drain with billions of dollars and the blood of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens. The source of funds is our failure as a nation to control our thirst for what we thought was cheap oil sitting under their sand and land. I noted before that just this lightbulb initiative could save on the order of 4 GigaWatts of electricity on a 24/7 basis. With an initiative to save power with new technology, like the more efficient light bulbs, Americans can fight back while keeping the lights on. With similar initiatives across the spectrum of major power consuming items as a national strategy to liberate us from the impending threat from the decay caused by our oil consumption we can better control our destiny than by trying to deal with this clash of cultures using violence with the cost of lives and its drag on our national defense.

Seems so illogical that you are willing to fight and throw lives and near unlimited tax dollars at the "war on terrror" but any attempt to win the war without using military force is deemed universally unacceptable. As of late, though, consistency and logic haven't been a strong suit for you, have they?
