Actually the brand is not nearly as crucial as the type. The type depends upon the condition of your paint. In a nutshell for most paint jobs that are not critically injured (crazed) a heavy polish by a professional buffer, a glaze by same buffer with a foam pad, and then followed by pure wax by hand.
The machine makes all the difference. Practice on a couple old cars first as you will inevitably burn some spots through the paint. Do one panel at a time. As far as brands, 3M, or Meguiars.
