I guess I'm just too narrow-minded, but the concept of a 'threat" that is unable to harm us, is too abstract for me. Is this sorta like 'kill the infant now, before he can grow into a man."? No cowardice in that, nosiree.

It's sort of like a "kill Hitler in 1937" kind of thing....

Too bad, seemed like such a nice man, too.

Are you suggesting that we could have poured through Germany's border virtually unopposed in 1937?

I'm suggesting that his death in 1937 would have been a good thing and at a far better price than paid over the subsequent 8 years....

Say what you like about that, but even France could have kicked Hitler's butt in the first attacks. The French had better tanks better aircraft and more troops. The only thing they lacked was a backbone, the will to win, and some Generals that knew how to fight rather then select the proper cheese and wine for dinner....... The war may still have been fought, but it would have started years later, of that there can be no doubt.
It appears that we here in the United States are following in the same footsteps, thanks to those that haven't got the guts to follow up on what we started and a press corps so left leaning they need a stick to prop themselves up.

My earlier suggestion to talk to some soldiers would be in order here. Botnst comes closest to getting it when I compare what he says/believes to what several soldiers tell me is going on. These soldiers see the entirety of what is going on here, not what the news media wants you to see. Sure, you can't take a spring stroll through the streets of Baghdad but neither can you in some places in this country, either.

What do you proponents of cut and run think would happen if we pulled out now? It's a mess, we're there and we have to finish the job, whether we like it or not.

I'm sorry, but the comparison of Germany/Hitler to Iraq/Saddam is absolutely ridiculous on any and every level. A comparison of Iraq to Grenada would be more spot-on. Actually, Grenada probably represents a greater threat due to its close proximity. My goodness, Iraq had roughly 10% of the military might it wielded during Desert Storm, which was completely ineffectual then.

I'm pro-cut n' run, and it's gonna be a mess over there, no matter what "we" do. We're gonna be paying war reparations for decades to come, so let's just start by cutting our losses, cutting them checks and letting them run their own affairs however they see fit.

Your team fucked up bigtime, but don't expect those of us who saw this trainwreck coming to clean up your mess. My kids are probably gonna be paying for this fiasco for the entirety of their lifetimes; that's a criminal disgrace and you should feel nothing but shame and disgust at your incessant cheerleading for this abject failure.
