Nacogdoches is a very nice town. I visited a young lady there in the early 80s. Given enough time I might remember her last name.

I did, however have a small problem heading back to Kentucky going through the little speedtrap of Fouke Ark. APPARENTLY I mispronounced the name of the little burg to the local constabulary.

McBear,
Kentucky

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.

Myth has it that Natchitoches & Nacogdoches were brothers in a clan whose leader was tired of their constant bickering and ordered them both to leave and set-up their own clans. One walked west and founded Nacogdoches (TX, home of Steven F Austin University) and the otehr foudned Natchitoches (Home of Northwestern Louisiana State University). Every year they have a football game in which the winner gets a cigar store chief for display over the following year.

I graduated from Natchitoches High School, which no longer exists.
