The recommendation was for at least 400,000 troops to occupy Iraq. How many were sent? I know this is hard for right wing nut jobs, but try to think logically. If we had sent the number of troops recommended by seasoned military men who based the calculations on real principles of military science instead of letting chickenhawk political idealogues fight their "war of the civilizations" on a harebrained shoestring, we might have had a chance at winning this war. Instead, a bunch of fucking cartoon ass clowns played "general", and lost the war by not actually fighting a war. The Iraqis, on the other hand, they knew what real war is about. They looted the arsenals, they formed guerilla cells, they organized the populace, all possible because we did not send enough troops. They forced the puppet government into the Green Zone, they wrecked the economy by bombing the oil pipelines, they wrecked our chance to build good will with our rebuilding program by assasinating anyone who worked for us as they looted the sites blind, again all because there were not enough troops. And we, because we did not have enough troops, depended on firepower and bullets for crowd control, becoming Nazi occupiers, again because we did not have enough troops. But grow a brain, fuckers, we ain't talking 20,000 troops, we are talking being short 160,000 to 250,000 troops, and not in Humvees either, in heavy armor. If we were not able to field an army of half a million men for this war, we should have never done this.
Now, we have no chance. Again, we might if we sent 400,000 troops, but that would endanger your precious tax cuts and your precious cheap gas. Adding 20,000 troops does nothing to change the original calculus, and simply provides more targets to a now savvy and entrenched enemy. Bush blew it, all for tax cuts for you greedy fuckers who think you are some kind of "patriots" when what you really are is a bunch of fucking clowns with no idea how to fight a real war, what a real war entails, and the kind of sacrifice a real war would require. The contradictions in what you say and what you did are absolutely surreal. This "surge" is just more of you clowns pissing in the wind, pissing away the lives of other people's kids.
Right now, surge or no surge, we simply do not have enough troops to provide for law and order in Iraq. The so called "Iraqi Army" can't seem to do it either. How does any of this change any of that?
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
