Shane's absolutely right about Mercedes service sucking ass relative to Lexus and others. I've been a Lexus owner for about a decade, and have been quite irate at how horrible Mercedes service is relative to my experience as a Lexus owner. Mercedes have a lot to learn. At some point, the 'prestige' factor of owning these cars in the USA will wear off (especially as wealth broadens and these idiotic Arbonne assholes flood the streets with their 'free' white ML's), and people will get sick of it.

Sadly, they're still probably on level, the best looking and most completely packaged luxury cars offered. I wish Toyota would buy DaimlerChrysler and enforce some fucking service standards over there.

If you bought the car there, the dealer should provide a loaner. If you didn't, tough sh!t.

So what if you move? Mercedes is pretty much telling their customers that dealership loyalty is more important to them than brand loyalty.

Lexus on the otherhand extends their loaner pool on a first-come first-served basis - no matter the age of the car, no matter where you bought it. You're buying their car from "Lexus", not just a dealership.

It's a fantastic model. Around here, Chevy dealers are beginning to mimic it. Our MB dealership provides loaners only while your vehicle is under warranty, and then only when available. Lexus service even regularly checks loaner availability when scheduling your appointment - does any MB dealership do this?

Stupid nazi's....

Like I said, The Carriage House in New London, CT has a very friendly approach. They have some loaners from their lot of old trade ins, and they have a contract with Enterprise to supply some number of additional loaners. Not wonderful cars, but clean and reliable transportation. They do not require that you bought the car in for service from them, and, yes, when you schedule the appointment they ask if you need a loaner and take that into account when they schedule the service. Haughty attitudes, shoddy diagnoses and overinflated prices to subsidize their showroom floor. I have not one iota of sympathy for the crooked weasels. I have had some positive experiences but very few and far between.

I dont agree. I worked at a couple of dealerships for a few years before finishing college and most of the money made comes from the service department though regular servicing, warrantee repairs and the like. Too with Mercedes the service department gets a small stipend to provide loaners for warrantee work.

If I were you, I would search until you find a dealer that treats you right. I had to go through 4 Mercedes dealers before I found a good one and two for the Jaguar. But funny thing was both of the Jaguar dealerships(realize they are owned by FORD) were very nice, one was just that much better than the other. Cant say the same for Mercedes.

My Car WOO HOO...... Now SOLD
New car.... 2001 Jaguar XJR!!!!

I'll assume you were not in a managerial position...
