There's a school of thought that says hypothetical questions don't merit a response. Sadly for me, I've never been to that school.
If we were to endure 8 years of Gore, then yes, unequivocally, absolutely, we would have it at least as bad (in different ways) if not far, far worse.
That said, I don't think Gore would have been re-elected to a second term. We'd have developed a wholly different but equally ascerbic vernacular for Gore as we use for Bush, with different but equal levels of disgust and resentment and hate for different but equal issues. The tables would be turned 180 degrees. It would be people like Jayhawk spouting endless profanities and blasting Gore and his wife with an incessant barrage of degrading terms, enough so that some Dems would start to say "Yeah, you're right on that point" once in a while. Just like we do here.
If we (the cynics with axes to grind and writing skills) are lucky, you'll get your turn to stink up the country again, and the tables will be turned in reverse. I must say, it's tough to move forward though when everyone's energy is spent taking back what they feel their side lost every 4 to 8 years.
