Coffee Fans?

Hey, folks.

Just curious...the older I've gotten, the more I seem to enjoy a really good cup of coffee. Don't get me wrong, I'll still drink the swill they serve in restaurants (and truck stops when I'm on a road trip), but my personal preferences have improved.

I've never been a fan of Starbucks coffee (generally too over-roasted, you never know what they're brewing on any given day, etc.), but after trying an Americano (espresso and hot water) that's really become my drink of choice there now. Always reliable, always fresh, always tastes the same.

A co-worker recently purchased a coffee press and brought it in to work.

I've seen these things in stores before but always kind of wondered, "This thing looks like some kind of medieval torture device...why all that work for a cup of coffee?" Well, having now partaken, I have a much better appreciation of the answer. Of course you have to lean towards strong coffee and it's pretty messy, but it is noticeably better than drip, very smooth, etc.

Anyway, just wondering if there are other coffee fans on the forum and what your preferred brew/method is.

Bonified addict.
Before you hastily knock truck stops, try Pilot's Arabica dark roast. Fantastic!!

I often make Polish style coffee at home which is essentially fine ground like espresso and placed into a water glass with boiling water. A saucer is placed over the glass to retain heat while the coffee steeps and the grounds settle on the bottom. Yumm!

Ahhh--the press. I love it. I used one for the first time about a year ago and threw out my regular drip machine.

The press is the only way to drink coffee, no taste of a paper filter.

That Americano was one thing that got me over there, here we call it a long black, you can imagine the expression of the people behind the counter.
