Most conductors who take on this most battle-scarred of warhorses are carrying on a dialogue with other conductors, emphasizing a pizzicato here or a bassline there, micromanaging details, carrying on an Oedipal struggle with Walter or Fuertwangler, to the point where we get further and further away from who Beethoven really was.
Giulini, like a Method actor, goes straight to the source. It's so well-paced that other recordings seem to last for centuries in comparison, and the climaxes will have you bouncing off the walls. This ranks as the best Beethoven on offer".
Yeah, and Greg Allman did a great version Midnight Rider, too.

Duane was the man.
My buddy Terry Reid has same great pipes, and isn't called superlungs for nothing.
Apropos pipes, sometimes Andre Crouch lets us know when he is singing in a church choire (Pacoima). Great stuff.
One of the best House of Blues gigs was with only two musicians on stage and performing together, Willie Nelson and Leon Russell! Wow.

A couple of the firsts were Hard Days Night/Beatles, Little Deuce Coupe/Beach Boys and The Times are A'Changing/Dylan. Those were back in 1964 or so. Earlier it was 45's. I still have most, if not all of them [46 feet of albums].

Last was the 40th Anniversary Release of Pet Sounds/Beach Boys. [Lunch today]. All discs - and most albums are on HDD now and take up 1.3TB.

I only included the 'Quote' as a laugh, as classical reviews are laden with drama
and after editing/slaughtering tried to leave some humour intact for your enjoyment !
