Anyone with satellite TV?
Some brilliant law was passed, and Dish Network stopped giving us NY network channels.
We tried cable. In this part of the sticks, they have 39 channels, HBO is on channel 2, no comedy central, bad reception (snow and ghosts), just a bad deal all around. That lasted a week.
Direct TV says they will save the day! They tell us that we can choose East coast or West coast network channels! We get two free movie channels, Showtime and Stars, and if we substitute HBO for Stars, we can save $10 a month! And if we go to a certain website and fill out a form, we can save another $10 a month for a whole year! WOW!
Well, that was all a lie. All of it. I haven't seen network programming in months. There's no offer on the website, no money off for NOT getting Stars, just another charge for HBO. When we called to ask about the package we were sold, the girl said that yeah, she knew the salesmen say a lot of things that just aren't true. WTF!?
But... here's another bite in the ass, if I order the HD package, network channels are no problem. Yeah, sure, hook you right up. I would love to have a new 42" HD plasma screen, I really would, but this damn 36" IB tube is still working beautifully.
Is this a squeeze placed on the comsumer with the help of the legislators? How is interferring with my TV programming in any way part of their job description? You would think at least the networks would care.
Anybody else going through this?
