UPS = United Package Smashers. Look how these packages are treated!

Inside a United Package Smashers Truck:

Ever wondered why your packages arrive at your door step crunched, smashed, broken, snapped and crushed?

You've probably never been inside a UPS facility and witnessed the package smashing first-hand. You've probably never watched a truck get unloaded, where the packages are thrown out the back door onto the conveyor belts and then thrown into the back door of another truck

I talked to a guy who worked at our local hub during the summer year before last. He said that they commonly threw 70# packages at each other to see if they could hold on to them. 9 out of 10 times, no.

We shipped 4 boxes to Nashville (printed book covers). UPS called 2 days later asking what the declared value was of the packages. I turned in $750.00. We got $100.00 and we had to reprint the job. I've hated UPS since and I have no respect for them. I have, on numerous occassions, begged the manager to switch to FedEx ground. We receive packages from FedEx and we don't have the issues of receiving banged up packages.

I ordered and received a $4,000 aileron from an aircraft parts dealer a while back, I found the crated part leaning against the front of the house when I came home. The wooden crate was broken, and the aileron was bent (essentially destroyed). You have to wonder how hard they had to work to destroy that crate and the aluminum/magnesium parts inside. You have to give those people an 'A' for effort that's for sure.

I have a friend that was pretty far up the food chain there before he finally quit. He said the company totally changed once they went public in the late '90's. As a privately held firm, they cared about the customers and the service. As a public company, they only cared about the next quarter's earnings and the stock price.

On the other hand, we tried to send 'care' packages to relatives located near the Hattiesburg area of Mississippi a couple of days after Katrina. FEMA was pretty much a no show if you were outside of the viewfinder of a CNN camera man. Those people spent weeks rationing food and water until help arrived.

FedEx was nowhere to be found but Brown was able to deliver.

One of my relatives in Texas is a trucker and he got in there as soon as he was allowed with a flatbed of bottled water, generators, gas, etc. Those were bad days.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

This was my driveway. The driver took "a wrong turn". He was actually contemplating using packages to help him get out. He had a long package that looked like it could have been an aileron from a plane. I told him it probably wasn't a good idea, but I guess he used it anyway.
