One question, since you think our presence in Iraq will further threaten us: What country did we occupy BEFORE 9/11?
We were/are already threatened before we went into Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. Playing with our peters while we let them blow up our buildings with planes, ships with boats and drag our soldier's bodies around Somalia while bombing our embassies is NOT the stance we should take. Iraq IS a mistake but labeling the war on terrorism a failure because of what is going on in Iraq is a bigger mistake. We have crippled Al Queida to the point they have broken leadership and scattered numbers. A terrorist organization with no organization is no longer an organization!
We do need to get the f^ck out of Iraq but to do it hastily and without a plan will only open the already broken country to even more terrorists settling there to threaten us later. Like it or not, we must finish the job, no matter how unpopular that may sound. Arabs will hate us no matter if we free Iraq or not. Our goal, at this point, shouldn't be to win a popularity contest with Iraqis, but to disable, as best we can, their ability to hurt us when we do leave. What a mess.
