Anyone know anything about E30 BMWs?

I have the opportunity to buy a 1988 325ix with 150k miles for $2500. It would be a winter car to complement the benzes. Anyone have any experience with these cars or know of a good web resource? Thanks.

This one belongs to a friend whose dad is the original owner. I'm looking at it today. That site bruce referred me to makes me really appreciate benzworld. It's very hard to read.

My best friend actually owns I believe an 87 325ix manual. He bought his with about 150k miles. They are fantastic cars and are still considered extreme bargains to the bimmer enthusiast. The E30 is plentiful and to even find a 325ix is really good because it was one and still is one of the only cars with mechanical AWD which means it's extremely reliable and isn't as complicated as the electonically controlled AWD systems you find on other cars. Also, being a bimmer, especially the E30 which is a very simplistic car to begin with, is very reliable.

So if it has a good history, has been taken care of and is up to date with everything, get it! THe E30 ix is a very very rare find and shall be worth some money as it becomes an antique later down the road.

Edit: If you want to have a chat with him about his car, I can give you some quick contact info. He got it over the summer and is very very very happy with it.

I saw the car today but didnt get to drive it. It looks clean, particularly the interior. Only has 134k miles, not 150. There seems to be some rust starting on the edge of the trunk lid but I couldn't see any more. I am driving it tomorrow.

If it's surface rust, that's an easy fix and isn't too costly. E30s are common to have some rust on it so don't worry about it, just like some W126s. But most of the time, it isnt too problematic, again, as long as you take care of your car.
