Actually, from the standpoint of his experience (the U.S. Senate), less is more. If he remains in the Senate, he may become more and more unelectable as he accumulates a voting record. That has been the pattern, strange as it is...

Through blatant and utter self-interest. Obama knows he could jump-frog the "experience" issue, which will keep him from becoming President, by becoming VP, and he knows he might even get lucky if Hillary croaks or gets shot by some RWNJ. Hillary knows she doesn't have a hope in hell of winning without him on the ticket, between the two of them they attract every Dem voting bloc. He's got the charisma, she's got the cash. And not only that, you know how those shines love old white women. It's a natural.

Had a father who held the office, ran Texas . . . nothing else, really, but he had a lot he could claim . . . I remember those reports about the Dem's in Texas who allegedly liked the way he ran the state and how he was their bud . . . made good TV.
Obama needs a few feathers for his cap. I say he is electable one day because he can do the presence thing, like Reagan (ran California) or Clinton (ran Arkansas). He needs to avoid being viewed as arrogant, and, to overcome the skin color thing, he needs accomplishments. Let him ascend to majority leader and do it well, then watch out.

How many U.S. Senators won a presidential election during the last 45 years?

He ran an oil company into the ground, so daddy bought him a baseball team, because only a complete idiot could fuck that up.

JFK was the last one. You know, there is a really smart guy running around who might want to emulate how JFK did it.

Yeah, that could be true . . . lessee, Bush was governor of Texas, Clinton of Arkansas, other Bush (where did he come from?), a string of government jobs but no senate seat, Reagan, governor of California, Carter, governor of Georgia . . . pretty good string going on there . . . I could be wrong about Obama, he probably should run for governor . . .

Fuck, Bill would probably watch and jack off.

Or even accept a prominent cabinet position if one becomes available. A long and prominent Senate career seems to be a death sentence these days in that regard.
