They need an airport closer, like Tahoe...that place isn't easy to get to. 2 hours from Sacramento up I-5 will get you to Redding for Chrissake. I used to live around there - the drive straight west from Redding to the coast could take a couple of hours, because the mountains aren't easy to navigate.

That's why I like it. Most people end up driving up I-80 just because it's an easier drive. It leaves Tahoe quite a bit cleaner and less crowded.

I love Tahoe, but I usally stay at a friend's ranche down the moutains on the Nevada side. Tahoe has a small airport and you can actually land a learjet in there.
