How did I live before HD DVR's?

Just got the Dish Network 622 Hi-Def DVR to go with my 52" Mitsubishi DLP (52628), and I've no idea how I lived without it.

The Rave HD network is particularly entertaining...HD/AC-3 versions of "Later...with Jools Holland", and BBC produced 3-hour commercial-free versions of the Glastonbury festival.

I just saw the '04 and '05 Glastonbury shows - I'd never heard of "Muse", but he seemed to be a pretty damned big deal. Paul McCartney is like the British ambassador to the entire world. It seems like it would be an amazing event to attend in-person.

If you have an HDTV, you should get Dish and get this 622 receiver. It's life-changing.

Even more than this was?

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I have DirecTV now, I believe they provide same services.

Thanks for the heads up.

Glastonbury is the dog's bollocks. You can bring what you want, take what you want and the cops just smile at you. The musical mix is pretty good too! The big downside are the latrines. You need to consume plenty of opiates to lock-up your gut for three days.

BTW-I know Jools Holland. His little girl was at the same school as my kids and we used to have the same favourite restaurant in Blackheath. He's a nice guy, very talented (remember Squeeze?). but man, he has the worst dandruff. Maybe I will send him some 'Head and Shoulders' for Xmas. Further kudos, his wife, lady Christabel, drives a nice blue 6.9!

The first episode I recorded on the DVR had him at the piano with Anita Baker, where they did a rather spontaneous and impressive rendition of "Blue Skies". I know he does that often - he's a really, enviably good player. It also had the world television debut of KT Tunstall, which was pretty impressive in it's own right. It's a shame there's virtually nothing at all like it on American TV.

I recognized Jools Holland almost immediately the first time I saw "Later...", not by name or because of Squeeze, but because of his presence at least one episode of "The Young Ones" I had seen rerun on MTV ages ago.
