So today I spent half a day in a salvage yard that had between 1300 and 1500 Mercedes from the 50's through the 90's in various degrees of rust and salvage. We had our first dusting of snow and it was 15 degrees with 15 mph wind, I still spent the time photographing much of the yard as nearly 1000 of the cars will be CRUSHED within the next two weeks [see thread in Vintage forum]. It was dead quiet except for the nearly 100 wild turkeys that seem to like living among the Benz collection. The two cars in the photograph will be back at my shop within the week to be saved from Jaws and rebuilt to some form of glory. They were pedestrian 170's of the 1950's, the C class of their time. Somehow it set the mood of the day.
Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
