Well, I wouldn't want to be 70 when my kid was just starting her life at 17. That would be a little weird, but different strokes...

My brother married a 34-year-old woman when he was 19. She had five children from her previous marriage and then they had one together. Her oldest child is only seven years younger than my brother. But, they have managed to see all but the two youngest kids to adulthood and out of the house without many major bumps along the way--and my brother is a very happy man.

Families come in all shapes and sizes--celebrate your diversity and all that stuff. Oh, and if you take your baby sis to the park you'll be a total chick-magnet. Most chicks think that sort of thing is hot.
