This is a sensitive issue for the Navy. They obviously know who the traitor was dealing with, and have elected not to disclose it. About the only thing of interest to Iran or another country (Israel, China, Russia, others, like drug dealers in Central and South America?) that has a submarine fleet of its own, that this dweeb on a Los Angeles Class fast attack submarine could provide would be target identification and tracking system limitations, sensor performance limits, and data reduction algorithms. If you know how you are being detected you can do things to avoid it.
This is truly bad shit. I have often thought, with these suicide types, a crew of whackos in a non-nuclear sub could hide while for weeks in the path of an oncoming aircraft carrier and its flotilla of support ships, and only move into position to detonate a fatal blow to the aircraft carrier. All they need is some assurance they are not being targetted while they wait. This is not good.
