I think about this every Thanksgiving, when we’re hearing all about the Pilgrims.
First, for the record, Frenchmen came to North America to colonize old Acadie in 1604. That was 15 years before the Mayflower hoisted sail. Besides that, some of the Pilgrims were of Huguenot stock. That’s French folk.

Second, it is only because the British won the wars on this continent that their revisionist historians have been able to spread the idea that there were 13 “original” colonies.

There were 13 original British colonies, but at least 18 “truly original” colonies. The Spaniards were in Florida, New Mexico, Texas and Arizona, and Frenchmen were in Louisiana well before the British got to Georgia (the last of their “original 13”).

Third, the first settlements in what is today the United States were by people who came through the Gulf of Mexico, not straight across the Atlantic.

That’s why a “traditional” Thanksgiving meal should include crawfish etouffee, enchiladas, and a few other things the Pilgrims never saw.

It's amazing that we can keep a good war going with all that French heritage.....

I translated the title: "Sveriges MarknadsUndersökningsköpares Förening"

as having to do with "Swedes mark under nads soaked in scuppers fornicating." I wasn't sure why they would want to do that but it sounds somewhat Kamelesque.
