Ah, the lament of those who "don't get" Systems Engineering and Machine Language level programming around the world.

Can a lament on Critical Thinking be far behind? :-)

Where do you draw an inference that there is a large portion of the citizenry who have an "inborn hatred"? Most folks that I see, from NYC to LA to here in the Midwest have a deep respect for the men and women who serve in the Military, it is the policies of their Commander that is questioned..
Where did I say in my quote in which you list, that 'a large portion of the citizenry . . . have an inborn hatred'? You need to read it again. I said 'a larger portion' meaning many more people today thinks the military is evil compared to the number of those who thought it during the patriotic WWII era. This is an unfortunate result of the Vietnam era.

And we are saying we don't know anyone who considers the military "evil". I consider the use of it by Bush evil. The military itself is a constitutional part of the United States. It exists to serve a useful purpose. It's current use is an abomination, a crime, a travesty. But those who serve in it, and the military itself are simply as much victims of this as are the people of the United States and Iraq are.

Your statements are just typical right wing strawman bullshit, meant to paint those you disagree with as anti-military peaceniks, who your side will then blame for the debacle you have created in Iraq.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Actually you said "a MUCH larger portion". My inference came from the qualifier MUCH which I interpreted as "a large portion". It seems, after reviewing your original post #13 that is was a reasonable interpretation.

But if we just go with Much Larger Portion, then I will rephrase, ‘Where do you draw an inference that there is a MUCH larger portion of the citizenry who have an "inborn hatred"?
