Hmmm didn't call the FBI or inform the Ethics committee(which he was a member) then, why should we trust this guy now?

Wow. That's right up there with Hillary's cattle futures in the 70's. All this current news is so hard to handle.

Tom Delay was censured, reprimanded, investigated for years while Majority Leader. I bet you were all up in arms over that.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I dont like a crook either way, Republican or Democrat. All things considered he has denied any culpability in this and I feel the only reason he is being nominated by Pelosi is because Steny Hoyer is running against her(corrected after FTL pointed out my mistake, should read HIM) for Senate Majority leader(which I hope he wins). And doesnt believe an immediate pull out is wise.

You have your facts all wrong. Pelosi is running unopposed for Speaker of the House. Murtha is running against the other guy for majority leader. It's up to the Democrats alone to pick the Majority leader, while the Speaker is elected by the entire House. The Ethics Committee is split evenly between the two parties, which is why it is essentially toothless.

Unless Murtha is indicted or convicted of anything, he is eligible to run for whatever he wants to run for. Since the American People essentialy voted that we get the hell out of Iraq, Murtha is the candidate that is representing their views.

Who cares? Pelosi said they will set the highest ethical standards so it must be true. I vote for William Jefferson as Whip.

I must say when I drove into Norlens last week I was surprised as hell to see Mr. Jefferson's smiling face on a huge billboard on Williams, asking for votes. The man has no shame.
