We have an interesting one here in CO. The Reps kind of screwed the pooch. They were positive their candidate for gov was going to win and so they put on a judicial term limit referendum. Well, as it turns out the democratic lawyer who they thought never stood a chance is 20 points ahead and if the term limit referendum passes he will be appointing about half of the appellate court judges and a majority of the supreme court judges. I think term limits are a horrible idea but if they are going to be throwing out half the judges and reshaping the bench for the next ten years I'm glad it's my guy doing it.

On the national level I'm also watching the MT race. If the man with the secret plan wins, all hope is lost. It will be conclusive proof that there is no intelligent life in MT.

Man, you are fucking stupid.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

These are the people running this country:

FBI looking into possible Va. voter intimidation
Officials probing reports of phone calls allegedly intended to confuse voters

NBC, MSNBC and news services
Updated: 42 minutes ago
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the possibility of voter intimidation in the hard-fought U.S. Senate race between Sen. George Allen, a Republican, and Democratic challenger James Webb, officials told NBC News.

State officials alerted the Justice Department on Tuesday to several complaints of suspicious phone calls to voters who attempted to misdirect or confuse them about election day, Jean Jensen, Secretary of the Virginia State Board of Elections, told NBC’s David Shuster.

Jensen told NBC that she had been contacted by FBI agents. The FBI in Richmond refused to comment.

State Democratic Party counsel Jay Myerson said in a written statement issued by the Webb campaign that he believed Republicans are behind an orchestrated effort to suppress votes for the Democratic challenger.

Republican officials, including the executive director of the Virginia Republican Party, have told NBC that the GOP and Allen campaign are focused on mobilizing voters and have not discouraged anyone from voting.

Recent polls suggested the Allen-Webb race was a tossup heading into Election Day.

In the Washington, D.C., area, NBC affiliate News4 reported on its Web site that it had received e-mail from a viewer in Virginia who said he received a phone call from so-called volunteers threatening voters with arrest if they cast ballots.

News4 reported: “The viewer's e-mail stated after he had voted, he received a call from an unknown caller who said they knew the voter was registered out of state and would be arrested if they voted today. The viewer's e-mail stated he's been registered to vote in Virginia for the last three years and has the Virginia Voter Registration card to prove it.”

The Webb campaign also said other voters are getting calls telling them their polling location has changed.
There are also allegations that fliers that say, "Skip This Election," are blanketing African-American communities, News4 reported.

Other voting problems
Meanwhile, programming errors and inexperience with electronic voting machines frustrated poll workers in hundreds of precincts early Tuesday, delaying voters in Indiana and Ohio and leaving some in Florida with little choice but use paper ballots instead.

In Cleveland, voters rolled their eyes as election workers fumbled with new touchscreen machines that they couldn’t get to start properly.

In Indiana’s Marion County, about 175 of 914 precincts turned to paper because poll workers didn’t know how to run the machines, said Marion County Clerk Doris Ann Sadler. She said it could take most of the day to fix all of the machine-related issues.

Election officials in Delaware County, Ind., planned to seek a court order to extend voting after an apparent computer error prevented voters from casting ballots in 75 precincts there. Delaware County Clerk Karen Wenger said the cards that activate the machines were programmed incorrectly.

“We are working with precincts one-by-one over the telephone to get the problem fixed,” Wenger said.

This one is a surprise pick up, showing up in this final poll in what was thought to be a safe seat. New Hampshire, like Rhode Island, likes to pick liberal Republicans for Congress. Charlie Bass, who is as middle of the road as they get, is about to pay for Bush's sins in lberal Southern NH, while the far right nutcase Bradley gets to keep his in conservative Northern NH. If the Democrats sweep, the remaining Republicans will all be uber conservatives, which is good for the Democrats in the long run. It's the ones in marginal districts that will fall victim to any Dem tidal wave:

Final poll shows Bradley, Hodes in the lead

The final WMUR/University of New Hampshire tracking poll of the 2006 campaign has good news for Republican Jeb Bradley and Democrat Paul Hodes in the state's two congressional races.

Results of polling completed Nov. 2 to 5 and released last night show 2nd District challenger Hodes leading incumbent Republican Rep. Charles Bass, 48 to 39 percent, with 3 percent for Libertarian Ken Blevens and 10 percent remaining undecided.

In the 1st District, Bradley leads Democratic challenger Carol Shea-Porter, 49 to 40 percent, with 11 percent undecided.

UNH surveyed 651 likely voters statewide, including 339 likely voters in the 1st District and 312 in the 2nd District. The margins of error in the congressional polls were 5.3 and 5.5 percent, respectively.

The same poll showed on Sunday night that Bass had gained ground on Hodes, closing a 13 percentage point gap a few days earlier to just 5 percentage points. But the gap widened again, prompting UNH pollster Andrew Smith to project Hodes as the winner in today's election.

The Sunday results showed Bradley with a 51 to 37 percent lead over Shea-Porter. Although Shea-Porter narrowed the gap, Smith still projected Bradley as the winner.

Also in last night's poll, Gov. John Lynch continued to hold a huge lead over Republican challenger Jim Coburn. The poll has Lynch at 74 percent, Coburn at 18 percent, with 1 percent preferring another candidate and 7 percent undecided. In the Sunday poll, Lynch led Coburn 72 to 19 percent. Smith projected Lynch to set a record in a gubernatorial election by receiving 77 percent of the vote. The margin of error in the statewide governor's poll was 3.8 percent.

The poll continued to show that a proposed constitutional amendment meant to curb government eminent domain power is likely to receive more than the two-thirds majority needed to pass. But a proposal that would guarantee that small towns are represented in the New Hampshire House appears to be falling short of the required two-thirds voter approval, the poll says.
