Saigon is just a short flight from Bangkok....we were thinking of going there next month.
Corkscrew, You seem to enjoy the finer things in life and I have been thinking about taking my wife on the Orient Express that runs from Singapore up to Thailand, have you taken it or heard anything about it from those that have?

I have not taken that train but I have heard just BEST things about it. I have taken the Orient Express in Europe and the Great Red train from Berlin to Istanbul...and the luxury Saigon-Hanoi train...and the trans Siberian from Uzbekistan to Irkutsk and to Bejing. WE LOVE TRAIN TRAVEL.

I think that you and your wife would love the Singapore-Bangkok train.

If you come to Bangkok please call us and we will show you our town.

I am a bit of a West Coast bigot. I love Seattle and San Francisco.

Paris. Of course.

Shanghai...unbelieveable.

All and all I am much more fond of smaller places, though.

Portofino. Split. Dubrovnik. (before the war) Cyclades. Interlakken. Kauai.

El Dorado Hills, California is still the best place to live. :-)

- Loved Munich, at least what I can remember before the Hauf Brau Haus.
- Seville was fun during the Worlds Fair.
- Manilla, LBFM's.
- Bangkok, they don't call it that for nothing.

It used to be Santa Fe but the last time I was there the Development Fairies had pretty much ruined it. That puts my favorite small towns as Santa Cruz [Home of Hippy Dippy U. and the Banana Slugs] and the Cambridge University area in England. I had a contract at Milton Keynes and enjoyed that area greatly.

Large cities would be NYC as it has so much to offer culturally as well as London which, as DeathRattle said has cultural icons smacking you in the face every time you turn a corner. In NYC, it is movie icons, MUCH different.

Then, I think Milan would have to be next. The nightlife there just rocks. I did not think I would ever get work done there. And the drives through the country were wonderful up through Lake Como or about 100 miles down the autostrada to Maranello.

But it's always nice to come home to the comforts of McJellystone Park.

Absolutely. I was going to go to Keeneland today but it is raining and I don't like betting on horses on rainy days. Hopefully another sunny day will happen this weekend before the meet closes.

You think? I figured it would be ruined from all the development. I haven't been there in years (besides passing through on Hwy 50)
