^^^^^^

Yes, I was going to add to that post but I was tired.

James Madison also had some interesting thoughts:
"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry, and persecution."

"In no instance have . . . the churches been guardians of the liberties of the people."

"Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise." April 1, 1774

Makes you wonder how such enlightened and progressive thinking could have gone so horribly into reverse in recent times.

Aside from that, he was okay with religion.

The goal I was striving for concerning those guys (and Abigail Adams) was that they all recognized profound difefrences among them, though they were all Englishmen by derivation. They understood that all of them held certain truths to be self-evident, not dependent upon a view of God or a station in life. They also fully recognized that none of them could live-up to tehir own ideals and so, set about building a structure designed to defeat the will of any one man or party of men.

Curiously, many of the FF's were Masons. Lots of symbology and so forth of this country has masonic symbology, giving rise to all sorts of conspiracy theories, some of which were true. there was even an Anti-Masonic Party for a while.

Does anyone remember when Hillary Clinton spoke to or had conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi? LOL
At least they were real people connected to the 20th Century

Ex-German leader: Bush's stance as 'God-fearing' president provoked suspicion
BERLIN, Oct. 21 — Ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, whose second term was marked by vehement opposition to the war in Iraq, described in an advance copy of his memoirs how he was suspicious of President Bush's constant references to his Christian faith.

That's it: I'm not voting for Schroeder.

You know that MOST people KNOW that that Blues Brothers/ Bush Cheney poster is a PARODY and not a suggestion that the Dick 'n W boys might really be tight with God. You need to check the origin of that Photochop. They just LAUGH.
