Definiton of the words "Son of a bitch": GOP MOC blocks autism bill for fatcat pals
If anyone needs a personification of the phrase "Son of a bitch", one need look no further than GOP Congressman Joe Barton of Texas. Mr. Barton is the Chairman of the Energy Committee. He has managed to get a bill approving funds for Autism research, PASSED UNANAMOUSLY BY THE SENATE, placed before his committee in the House, where he has blocked it. Now, why would a bill on Autism research end up in front of the Energy Committee you might ask? Well, that happens when you have some son of a bitch who is in the pocket of the huge chemical industries based in Texas doing the bidding of those who don't want any research into Autism, because most agree the research will probably lead to the conclusion that it is caused by ever increasing toxic mercury emissions from the smokestacks owned by these unscrupulous greedy bastards. In other words, protecting their profits comes first, you ending up with a kid who will be severely handicapped his whole life comes in second. This is the very definition of fascism: a government where the public good, which is what the government is supposed to be looking out for, matters little. As SOB Barton will be the first to tell you, corporations who pay his way are your real masters, and hey, fuck your kids. Oh, I forgot, that's the job of some other GOP congressman.
There is currently a mass protest movement being formed to confront this son of a bitch. You can help by calling his office, which has placed long delays between its messages before you actually get a spot to record a message in the hopes you will hang up, so be patient, at 817-543-1000, and tell him you think he is a son of a bitch.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
