Disregarding the CIA's earlier role in removing the secular nationalistic leader Mossadegh from power, and reinstating the young Shah to the Throne and not so much to power (he had already been in exile in Rome, Carter, a very moral and good man, was a total disaster when it came to Iran. The road to hell is truly paved with good intentions. With any other US President but Carter, Iran would never happened the way it did and with it the Mullah's pet project Hezbollah, the old USSR might have never invaded on the road and mountain passes they had earlier given Afghanistan in a true Trojan horse gambit, and Bin Laden & Co might have never made it to Afghanistan, Iraq would not have dared to start either a war with Iran or invade Kuwait. Kurt Vonnegut would have said and so on and on. I have little regard for either political party, Pepsi or Coke, the great difference.
