But it was Eisenhower who began the fine U.S. tradition of meddling in Iran's affairs, and it was Eisenhower's tenure that featured good old McCarthyism. Note that these two things have a common root......

But without him, I would not be able to gun my SL down I-5. And he would probably be the only one who could answer that great question: why does Hawaii have an Interstate Highway?

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I like Ike: He's just another good ol' Kansas boy. Everyone should visit his library in Abilene, KS (Dwight D. Eisenhower Library, 200 S.E. 4th Street, Abilene, Kansas 67410).

Don't believe everything you think

Nope, I think the jury is pretty much just hanging around for the extra pizza. That decision has already been made.

And our children and grandchildren and greatgrandchildren will be paying for it with extra taxes to cover the insane debt and trying to smooth over the screwed up foreign relationships that have been ripped over the past 5 years.

I believe you have to go with Coolidge and Bush2 as your two choices. Coolidge was appreciated while in office but built up isolationism, cut taxes and reduced farm aid at a time when it was needed. His popularity in appeasing business and failure to keep the growing "boom" in check primed the pump for the great depression that followed. Bush2 just shit in the national nest.

Carter's two main contributions were a distruction of strong foreign policy built by Nixon and the 16.5% inflation rate that pretty much defined the rustbelt and its 30 year legacy.

You can call those observations partisan but you can't dispute the facts and the facts are what are going to decide, not a partisan prayer. Face it Bush is just plain poor as a president. Too many years of Cocaine and Drinking clouded his judgment and made him make too many poor decisions and pick too many poor people in responsible jobs. Rummy is a perfect example of someone who should be GONE. Chertoff is another. Both have failed at their missions. Chertoff allowed FEMA to KILL PEOPLE. NSA has broken the law. These are just poor decisions. Shitty poor decisions. He may be a great man but he is a poor president and unless his next 24 months are a 180 degree change from his current course, his LEGACY is ZERO.
