I was just counting 2-term presidents. To me, one-termers don't count since voters tossed them early.

Blaming President Carter is too easy. What happened in Iran is not his entire fault even Botnst here will tell you the history brewing through the decades before the Shah was toppled.
My old man was one of the negotiators that tried to get the hostages out off Iran. I did not see him for months as he kept grinding at it. So clearly the President did not abandon the hostages and I can tell you that the release of the hostages had NOTHING to do with President Reagan taking office. Maybe I will explain that another day.

Yeah, way too easy. I would have to say Eisenhower has to take the biggest hit...

His foreign policy is a laughingstock throughout the world, with friendly nations of decades pulling away like never before. He has a domestic policy that has even his own party pulling away. He has caused the most divisiveness of any president in history and registered the lowest pole ratings of ANY setting president by a non partisan pole [33%]. He has run up the National Debt to $9Trillion and run Federal Deficits of $5Trillion since being in office. He entered a [90 day max] war that has gone from $15B to $500B in 1000 days and resulted in the deaths of 100,000 Iraqi civilians and over 3,000 American and Coalition troops. I could go on and on but some of the books have already been written and many others will.

His failures make Garfield, Hoover, Buchanan and the A.Johnson seem like blips on the radar and they have been considered America’s worst presidents until now.

Years of Cocaine and Drinking do not make a "Best President in American History". They make what we have...a failure.
Continue to wallow in your partisan political poop. Fortunately for you, you are too old to be around when the final chapter on this great American President is written...

I personally think Ike was under rated. He was the first one to foresee the world we live in today, which is essentially the economic dictatorship of the military industrial complex:

"This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
"
Bush is the fullfillment of his nightmare.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
