Do you have any idea of the self inflicted pun-ishment you just gave yourself?

After watching last night's news, I now predict the Democrats are going to pick up at least fifty seats in the House, and easily capture the Senate.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I had a premonition.

House votes to unburden itself of ALL reports of Congressional misconduct, previously kept confidential, with pages.

House members of both parties scramble like roaches with the kitchen light flicked on.

Voters stomp the bastards.

Once again you make the sexual behavior the issue. The issue is whether or not the House Leadership is capable, of well, leading.

Methinks it will take much more than this to force republican voters to stay home as opposed to voting. Most voters can see through what is going on. If it can be proven that Hastert and other high level republicans covered up this e-mail business, which Hastert maintains he didn't, you might see a fall-out that would cause a shift to the left. What most likely would cause a more significant shift is voter's dissatisfaction with the job the candidate is doing on the local level, something I've mentioned before. Stay tuned. Only the elections will determine.

Well, I see the two as separate.

Elected folks seducing children in their care is a problem separate from the political consideration, at least to me.

The degree to which the leadership may have covered for this behavior is the only issue in regards to leadership.

In point of fact, upstanding morals and leadership ability travel the same road only by accident. Recent history being noted especially. But you can wander through human history and rarely find a leader of consequence who was also a moral person.

Some will stay home, some will vote the other way until their hijacked political party runs aground and returns to their conservative roots, while others will continue to support the hijackers. It's gonna get ugly, but probably not as ugly as many might hope...
