Philly

Today I took my little family to Philadelphia for my younger son’s birthday. It was a great day to show them the birth place of many decrees our nation was built upon and to remind them what the forefathers were all about. I have included some pictures for your delight and to remember that two hundred years ago it took as much courage as it is needed now to stand up to injustice and look out for our future generations.
Oh, we had some famous cheese steaks at Rick’s but let me tell you; don’t order the “works” or the fires. Get the plain cheese and you get more meat and it tastes better. The works included mushrooms from the can, it was awful.
Anyway enjoy the pics.
Drew

You picked an abolutely beautiful day to take the family to Philly...my second home.

I head down there every weekend to see my girl and a few old college roommates, and it's to the point where I just wish it was Saturday morning already!

If you want a really awesome and truly authentic Philly cheesesteak, you have to try Campo's on Market Street in Old City...amazing heart attack on a bun! Comes with fresh shrooms, onions, mayo and your choice of cheese (I like white American personally).

If you have time, try to make it up to Tiffany's on the Boulevard in the Great Northeast for the best homemade malt you'll ever taste.

Yeah they are a blast, I just hope by the time they are 18 there will be no draft. I like Chinese food and I don't want to see anything Chinese go out of favor because we would have corraled them into camps.

Awesome! You can usually find me in Philadelphia Eddie's on South 4th getting more ink put on my body.

Try to make it to those places and also check out South Philly...it's a better and way more authentic Little Italy then we have in NYC.

Off the topic, but what is the deal with 895 in Baltimore? Every time I drive through B'more I find 895 one step away from being a full blown, no cars using racetrack. How come nobody uses it? Do cops even patrol that road?

I loved it today with this nice weather. I am sure we will be back before Thanks Giving. Yeah Market St was great but I know the old quarters too, so maybe I will see you on my next visit.
Oh, and being from the "old Country" maybe we can have a real Italian feast together, just showm me the place.

I really need to check it out. I have a client over in Paulsboro, NJ right across the river, and fly into the airport there about three times a year. I never once have checked out the sites there, mostly because I have relatives in the area and head to visit them instead with whatever free time I have. I'll have to put it on my list.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address
