It is precisely that outlook on life that perpetuates meaningless conflicts endlessly.

Go get your i-Anus nerve severed it is making your outlook on any interaction with a "liberal" unduly shitty. Learn to have a broader view of circumstances and possible solutions to problems those circumstances present. Yet you persist in doing no more than mooning him and peeing on the floor about your dislike for liberals and liberal media just to sustain your opportunity to expose your apparently limited self to us - making it clear you are unable or unwilling to think outside the boundaries of "hate liberals and blame liberals." The leader of the military is the POTUS. That is what it means.

Are you serious? You don't know that the leader of the U.S. military is the POTUS? I know it, and I know FeelTheLove, and I know he knows it, and that is absolutely what he meant, along with other elected officials and advisors that hold sway in that regard.

But Bruce, it was in response to:
"Damn, you just don't get it do you? The military didn't lose that war, they NEVER lost a battle, the politicians, the liberal media, and buttholes like you did."

Which was your thoughtful offering in response to:
"Quote:

Why? Because the war was a really stupid idea."

So, refrain from pissing on FTL's leg and he won't push your buttons. It takes two and in this case you have been the least willing to acknowledge agreement, and most likely to launch off into tangents, as I see it. The Vietnam war was a really stupid idea. It was not concocted by the military professionals, it was concocted by politicians in the executive and legislative branches for invalid reasons, as well as the political appointees in the DoD. Just like Iraq.

As for the resources applied, I doubt anyone held back any better or more capable weapons systems in Vietnam, but that is merely my opinion from interacting with those who went and some of those who came back and I could be wrong. Which is not the case in Iraq, in my opinion. Iraq has been repeatedly grossly underestimated. Troops and equipment were held back because Rumsfeld's opinion was there was no insurgency and Rumsfeld does not tolerate differences in opinion from his subordinates, which includes all of the professional military ranks, minus the retired brass calling for his ass now. GS, are you having a problem reading today or are you just being belligerent?

He said:
Perhaps if you had military leadership that wasn't obsessed with "body counts" and "free fire zones" things would have worked out differently.
Where in there is the acronym POTUS? He said Military leadership, he DID NOT say anything resembling Commander in Chief, or mention any politician. If you want to GUESS that's what he meant, more power to you. I prefer to read the words and go by what they mean, NOT what someone else THINKS they mean.
A while back you told me that you weren't a mind reader, but now, you are either trying to be one, or maybe think I should be.

And the next in line would be the Secretary of Defense. And his various deputies then, and so on and so on. But if you want to just sustain a whine about how it is all the liberal's fault this can be unduly difficult if you are forced to restrain yourself to what is actually being said. Jim

Yup, FTL is a political nut, not a military strategist.
