He's having a hard time because Iraq has nothing to do with the "war on terror" which is another piece of bullshit anyway. A war on a concept has got to be the dumbest thing ever sold to the dumb voters of this country.
War in Iraq has always been about one thing - oil. If we walked out tomorrow, the winners would simply go back to pumping it, and killing those who got in the way, just like Saddam did.
The real war is in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where people who want to destroy us are one coup d'tat from acquiring nuclear weapons. Of course, Bush and the GOP cut and ran from that war so they could go kill goat farmers and kids in Iraq, like the sniveling little murderering cowards that they are. As soon as we can kick all their asses out of office, we can get down to fighting a real war, not some coward candy ass war on some two bit dictator, with all the lies and made-up reasons that Bush simply can't seem to blow up our ass right now.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
