They miss the opportunity to be authoritative on the subject and human, by trading that side of their experience for a falsehood.
Where as I agree that juvenile and limited minor offences are just a way of giving the opposition some ammo, I don't agree that they should all be swept under the rug either. Continuous minor offences tend to show some basic character flaws that may reoccur in later life.
You're right, most if not all have had some indiscretion (s) we would not like to have everyone know about. If minor, it shouldn't matter.
The media seems to want to throw a spotlight on all the politicos problems no matter how small, and then they magnify them all out of proportion. My opinion is that they are somewhat biased as to who they spotlight, but that's only an opinion.
The bottom line is that they will do anything to sell a "story", and we all suffer for it.............

I could run, and they wouldn't find boo on me to speak of. I'm talented. Perhaps I should try for a senate seat.

How much do those guys make, anyway?

That depends on how much they can steal.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

No, if you are what you say, you would be much happier in some social structure where there are some other decent folk. Jim
