You got me there. I guess we'll have to call him the "conscience of the Independant party." All two of them.

Wasn't he actually referred to, at one time, as the "conscience of the Senate?"

He is a Democrat. His public statements, following the Lamont backstabbing, indicate that he is very much still a Dem.

You guys can accept it, you guys can dispute it.

It won't change the facts that Lieberman is indeed the conscience of a party whose members (some anyway) thought it was perfectly fine for the President of the US to get his cock sucked by a 21 yo intern and who thought it was fine for him to stick a cigar in her vagina and who, further, thought it was perfectly OK for him to lie about it.

Such is the morality of some clintonites the Dems who drink his kool-aid.

Julius Casar, Act III scene 2

The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest--
For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men--
Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

I'm sure that must drive people "like you" (whatever that happens to be) nuts.

Lieberman is going to win in Connecticut for the same reason Cynthia McKinney lost in Georgia: the crossover Republican vote. Faced with their own party's nominee, who has no chance of winning, they would prefer to vote for the "lesser of two evils" from among the other candidates rather than throw their votes away.

The exact same thing happened in Georgia's 4th congressional district when McKinney (that "worthless anti-semitic piece of shit congresswoman who should be imprisoned for striking a capitol hill policeman") lost a runoff primary election thanks to the Republicans' crossover vote.

Republican cross over vote in an all black district? Man, you ARE stupid.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Certainly in 2002 when McKinney ran in the 4th district the Republicans vote altered the results of the election: ..."McKinney protested the result in court, claiming that thousands of Republicans, knowing they had no realistic chance of defeating her in November, had participated in the Democratic primary to vote against McKinney in revenge for her anti-Bush administration views and allegations of possible voter fraud in Florida in the 2000 Presidential Election".....

I would guess that the Republican vote was less significant in 2006 as she lost the election by a wide margin.....
