I represent myself as myself. I am no Republican, though I was a registered Republican from 1968 until 1992. In 1992 I switched to registered Democrat. That no longer fits, either. You want labels? make labels. Your dialectical materialism is showing.

In contrast, I don't really care what you say your beliefs are. You want to call yourself a socialist? Fine with me, you're a socialist. You want to call yourself a fascist? A commie? A liberal? Go for it. What label you choose for yourself and the labels you choose to impose on others is a reflection of what you believe. But in each case your attempt is flawed by your premise.

It's all about you, isn't it?

Strategy du jour: Deflect and Denial

Well, we each choose our own pathway to hell. Yours is clearly labeled Republican, yet those rose-colored glasses seem to re-code the sign to read Libertarian. If you say it enough, you can convince lots of folks that war is peace, slavery is freedom and paucity is wealth; see Joe Lieberman.

Whatever works for ya, bud.

Labels are a big deal to you, aren't they?

You're a liberal Democrat. There's a label that I give to you as a bequest in recognition of your steadfast support of the goals, aims and beliefs of the Democratic Party. That's you stupid-assed form of argument and you are welcome to it.

Freedom is not the absence of tyranny. Freedom is the fundamental nature of man. That is the core belief that I hold as a self-evident truth. from it flows everything I believe and hold dear. Is there a label for that belief?

What about you? Is there a label for your belief?

If I gave much personal credence to labels, then I'd assign them to myself...but, as you know full well, I don't. You on the other hand, are constantly trumpeting your credentials as an aloof "Libertarian", so very above the fray. Yet, as I've pointed out, you constantly play toadying handmaiden to the most anti-libertarian regime in Merkin history. Sorry, but you've been hoisted so very adeptly by your own hubristic petard. Shall I call you Captain Petard, mon frère?

Try approximating factual representation of reality. It will be a new and exhilarating experience for you.

That's not an accurate portrayal of my beliefs. On the occasions when I have spoken definitely of my beliefs I have always said that they are closer to the libertarians than any other. In shorthand I may have said that I am libertarian in my view of this or that subject (usually social or economical). But I have never, ever said I am a Libertarian.

Why are you so hung-up on me and some label?

Tell me about yourself. Don't be shy.

......except when that man is standing on our oil.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Report of the Select Committee on Intelligence

As quoted from the report:
"This committee's usefulness as an oversight body and as a key element in
our national security apparatus has been consumed by a rear-view mirror investigation pursued for political ends."

"Simply stated, this second series of reports is designed to point fingers in Washington and at the Administration. The conclusions in the reports were crafted with more partisan bias than we have witnessed in a long time in Congress."

"Although the structure of the Committee provides for effective bipartisan oversight, the recent agenda of its membership has not fallen in line with the Committee's primary purpose."

"The Chairman's additional views in this second report lay out the factual discrepancies, false impressions and inaccuracies;"
