The Press are an equal opportunity interrogator. It is their job to poke and prod and find the weak spots because you and I don't have the access to do it. Otherwise, we would never know about Wiretaps and Whitewater and Carnavore and Travelgate and Agnew and Berger and Coke and Monica and Plame and Watergate.

I don't care about his politics or even his attitude, but this kind of trash mouth is well beyond reasonable boundaries. It seems as though he is CONSTANTLY lowering the conversations to trash talk not because he has a point to make, but just because he thinks he can..........It just keeps getting worse and worse. This kind of thing just isn't right, sorry but all of you on both sides have to know I'm right.
He has both clear things to say and his tourette's moments. I tend to think that banning should be for something much more egregious than outbursts of 'potty mouth'.

I have problems with some of the fights that both have decided to mount but the interests of the people and the Constitution are at the very top of both of their missions.

Hey, I own guns and belong to the ACLU. What Bruce is really trying to tell us is he belongs to some wacked out right wing militia. Which of course, he has a right to do, as long as they all eat their bran flakes so they will be well-regulated.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I don't think that either group has the country's best interests at heart and I don't think that either one is particularly honest in their approach to "defending" the Constitution.

They are, however, particularly adept at garnering self-serving publicity.

The ACLU routinely picks and chooses the parts of the Constitution that they want to "defend". Not once, that is to say NEVER, has the ACLU backed the NRA when the rights of legal gun owner's have come under attack. (I'll amend that to say as far as I know.)
The case of gun owner's in New Orleans comes to mind. They still haven't returned any of the weapons confiscated (or stolen) from law abiding citizens. Where is the ACLU on that? Why aren't they defending the "oppressed masses" and trying to help them get their property back?

Unlike the nonsense you constantly spew huh....
umm, you need to use than amendment up there. The ACLU has come to the defense of gun owners on many occasions on illegal search. The ACLU has backed gun ownership in at least two Kentucky cases in the past five years. ACLU has backed 200 year old carry laws in Kentucky as early as the 70's.

I know that the urban chapters of the organization is less friendly towards gun laws than the rural sections but I know there is no blanket refusal to deal with firearms issues. I also know that they are more likely to back individual cases than an NRA blanket issue since that is how ACLU works.

As for New Orleans, have any local attorneys started legal proceedings and then asked the ACLU to become party to the proceedings? That is how it has to happen.

Actually I was enjoying some R&R with the family before the kids went back to their respective schools.

I have a wireless PC card, but I resisted the temptation to chime in. You and the rest of the "junta" was doing quite well w/o me, so I took a break.

shabah is quite a character. I have a sneaking suspicion that he is one of the board's owners and he just posts here to generate foot traffic when things get slow. I mean, no one can really be THAT lame. I think you once called him a caricature.

(Proudly unfurling the red cape...doing my matador routine).

I too got tired of "sparring" with him. It was way too easy. Everytime I posted something his reply was something along the lines of: "I know what I am but do you know what you are?"

(Taking out sword...waiting for the blind charge).

I think it is far more interesting and challenging, as gauge suggested, to pester the hell out of FTH and watch him melt down.

I have a couple of business trips coming up, so I may not be posting as much during the next few weeks.

Until then, ciao!
Oh Man, I was really going to insult you but then I figured out that "beaner" did NOT mean what I thought it did. For as long as I have been an adult [35 yrs] "beaner" was a slur for an accountant - as in bean counter. So I thought you were one of those guys that kept annoying me about my expense reports for the past freaking 30 years. Glad to know I was wrong.

Accountant, CPA, bean counter, all too boring for my tastes.

You're from the South, beaner there and beaner here are two different things.

So you are 53 years old? (18 + 35).
