Who knew Jackie Mason was still alive? :)

Comic sues Jews for Jesus

NEW YORK (AP) -- Saying he's "as Jewish as a matzo ball or kosher salami," Jackie Mason filed a lawsuit against Jews for Jesus for using his name and likeness in a pamphlet.

The $2 million lawsuit seeks the immediate destruction of the pamphlet, which members of the missionary group have been handing out at various points around New York City.

"While I have the utmost respect for people who practice the Christian faith, the fact is, as everyone knows, I am as Jewish as a matzo ball or kosher salami," the 75-year-old comedian said in documents filed in state Supreme Court in Manhattan.

Founded in the 1970s, Jews for Jesus practices Judaism but regards Jesus as the Messiah.

The pamphlets feature an image of Mason next to the words "Jackie Mason ... A Jew for Jesus!?" with information inside that outlines the similarities between Jews and Christians.

"The pamphlet uses my name, my likeness, my 'shtick' (if you will), and my very act, which is derived from my personality, to attract attention and converts," Mason said in an affidavit.

Susan Perlman, a spokeswoman for Jews for Jesus, said the pamphlet was "good-natured."

"Shame on him for getting so upset about this," she said Friday.

Mason has starred on Broadway and in films including "Caddyshack II."

I was unable to read that without doing so in his voice. Does anyone remember the Ant and the Aardvark cartoon on the Pink Panther show?
"I should have listened to my mutha when she told me to be a doctuh".

Oh yeah, the ant was Dean Martin.

DOOD!!

I don't even need to see the clip, you had me LMAO from the Quisp reference.

My sister was a "Quake" fan, but I preferred "Quisp". Same sugar, same crap, just a different shape. Marketing hype to kids, but it worked.

Thanks for the memories!

He was on Glenn Beck last night...Beck couldn't hardly carry on the interview. Just listening to him talk is enough to make you laugh.

Still alive? -That's funny!

I was relating that story to an American friend this morning and she said she'd never heard of Jackie Mason.

That being the case, I didn't bother to tell her that I've met him.I was barreling up 5th Ave in NYC one evening after a few post-work Martinis, feeling no pain, when he exited a building and I ploughed straight into him.Well, he's a little guy and I was probably 200lbs then and I literally knocked him flying. As he was being picked up by his people, he let off with one of the finest tirades of abuse that I have yet experienced.Needless to say, I didn't ask him for an autograph.

Jacky Mason and the old time Comedians are/were great. It would have been the only way I would have watched Glenn Beck's show. I was lucky enough to get to know another Jacky, Jackie Gayle before his death in 2002. Lenny Bruce's best Friend and close to Sinatra's rat pack. Great Guy, great stories. Was smart enough to never try to tell him a Joke.
