The other thing called BMW in German is 'Brett mit Warzen' = board with warts, for flat anorexic girls.

Least you are stilll a northsider! (GO CUBBIES!)

Hubby grew up in the 600 block of W. Deming. Right about Fullerton and Clark. North Pond.

I miss our 725 W. Sheridan condo! Loved that neighborhood.

On the weekends about 4am I would take my dog out for his late night walk, I wouldn't be the only 'gal' wearing Manolo's and BCBG but I would be the only one with hips....that's a tell tale sign, even a thin woman over the age of 25 is going to have several inch difference between her waist and her hips!

Now our city weekend place is a condo in Uptown, on Lakeside (near Lawrence) a block from Weiss hospital. *Slightly* different neighborhood. Less rainbows and more color.

My very first girlfriend lived in a coach house at 600-something W. Deming, and my mother managed a high-rise apartment building a little north of Fullerton on Clark, and Ron Popeil lived there at the time. Misspent much of my youth (as much as I can recall, anyway) in E. Rogers Park. Uptown must have improved a lot since I last saw it. We used to venture into the neighborhood for the Uptown Theater, the Riviera Theater, and the Aragon Ballroom as required, then got the hell outta there in a hurry.

We went to a wedding in Roger's Park just the other weekend. (St Mary Margret's)

Yes Uptown.... t's....better....there is a HUGE Border's bookstore right near the Uptown Theatre and they are re-doing the Uptown Theatre now. http://www.compassrose.org/uptowntheatre/overview.html

There is an SRO across the street from our building, a woman's only SRO. A new bright-shiney (literally-they used brightly colored metallic finish glass tiles) community center at the end of Lakeside with after school programs and resources for the elderly. It's fairly quiet there. My husband's partner bought the building in the 80's for back taxes, we did the condo conversion about 4 yrs ago and units have been selling very well-mainly to young professionals (a first year vetrinarian, a guy in grad school, a trust fund baby who recieves modest distributions right now, those types)

While I don't park on the street, I don't feel unsafe during the day at least.

That's a big step up from what it used to be -- good for you! Now I understand that E. Rogers has turned south in a big way. It's only natural, I suppose -- the area is (was) absolutely dominated by old three-story apartment buildings. Back in the day, E. Rogers residents were mostly Loyola students and the young party crowd who couldn't stomach Newtown (me!!!).
