Mayor Ray Nagin vs. New York

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1933092.shtml

I guess he doesn't have enough trouble on his hands, he's looking for a little more controversy.............

"Negotiating with Obama is like playing chess with a pigeon, the pigeon knocks over all the pieces, on the board and then struts around like it won the game."
Vladimir Putin

"They have gun control in Cuba. They have universal health care in Cuba. So why do they want to come here?"
Paul Harvey 8/31/94

What a great argument: Who displays the greater ineptitude?

He seems like a nice, but inept kind of guy. Should never have been reelected mayor. He'd be a good deputy mayor or front man for the mayor, but he does not have the managerial stuff necessary to put that city back together, IMO.

No. I think most people were aware that NO was a mess, but until it "blew up," and someone actually had to do something to fix it, did the world realize just how bad the situation was. It is absolutely amazing to me that they did not lose 100,000 people, just sitting around waiting for someone else to come around and get them out, when Kat took the place apart. The whole state of LA is a disaster: Officials there are either all corrupt and/or lazy as hell! The whole place reminds me of a 3rd world South American state w/ more corruption than usual. The LA attitude just seems to be one of "mañana," and NO is the worst. And the really ugly part is that they turn around and blame the federal government for everything. The attitude is one of "Don't ask us to do anything, someone needs to do it for us."

Don't believe everything you think

Biggest difference between New York and New Orleans? Something should by built on the site of the World Trade Center. New Orleans should be left to rot. Not a single penny should have or be spent rebuilding that cesspool.

Not to mention the fact that some of those $2000 credit cards that FEMA gave out to the people of NO were used for tatoos, liquor and hookers.

"But losses from misspent debit funds — the list of purchases also included alcoholic beverages, adult erotica, condoms and a $1,300 pistol — were peanuts compared to the amount of money FEMA wasted on contracts and housing payments, according to a report by the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general, Richard Skinner."

OTOH, Nagin had a point.

How many billions of dollars did Congress authorize for 3-4 blocks in NYC? How much of that small area has been rebuilt?

How many billions of dollars did Congress authorize for NOLA? How much of NOLA has been rebuilt?

New Yorkers should be brought onto the carpet to explain the magnitude of their ineptitude, vis a vis Ray Nagin.
