Look for it, expect it -- I'd be very surprised if some real or imagined terrorist threat is not 'outed' during this time period.

It stands to reason that terrorists want to keep the status quo on election day, and it stands to reason that the status quo wants to keep the status quo. Both are well served by the promotion of fear, and have used it to their advantage in the past. Never give up on a good thing.

It's a shame the terrorist threat is afforded so much gravitas. Most westerners would do better to consider the risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes or cancer before fretting over the odd bomb. For most, a trip to Mc Donalds is more likely to see them off than a ride in a plane, (especially if a certain 123 owner from LINY is in charge of the place).

RISK PERSPECTIVE

The average American has a . . .

1 in 7,000 chance of dying in a traffic accident

1 in 17,000 chance of being murdered

1 in 10,000,000 chance of being killed by a terrorist

... and the average incumbent has a 20% greater chance of winning reelection after a foiled terrorist threat, real or imagined.

My only comment GermanStar is there will be as many terror attacks are are needed to keep the dirty laundry of those in charge from seeing the light of day, and to keep GOP candidates in election races they should be laughed out of, between now and election day. This is an election year dream come true that can be replayed at will for the GOP. If the polls get too bad, just order up a foiled Al-Qaeda attack. If the heat is on this summer, get relief from a recycled airliner threat. It is working so well, we will never see the end. Jim

I agree Jim, but additionally, nobody wants to keep these guys in office more than Al Qaeda, so they may actually pull something real off to give the American voters a little push.
