From what I have read, they are most certainly edible. They have been eaten for hundreds of years by ancient shamen and vision seekers. They are theorised to be the Soma of ancient Hindu ritual. They were eaten by the Vikings before raiding villages. American Indian medicine men would eat a large quantity, then allow the tribe (whoever would want to...) drink his urine. Passing it through the body was one way to eliminate the negative effects of the muscarine. Europeans still use them for recreational purposes today. So, I know they are edible.

I'm pretty much in agreement with this.

Look, if a buzz is so all-fired important go get some morningglory or Hawiian Woodrose seeds. They are far less dangerous and will give you a hell of a buzz. Just soak them in several changes of water over a few hours to remove any preservatives and soften the exocarp.

Let me amend that by saying you should not be ingesting illegal substances. Even worse is to take a chance with illegal substances that are potentially deadly.

Dude, I think I would stick to the "kind" B.C. Bud over the "shrooms". I've heard that one mistake could send you on that ultimate trip. Just thinking about it is a buzzkill.

Thanks for your concern, but I did a little research before eating them. The variety I ingested was purchased from a reputable fungus supplier, so misidentification was not really a concern. They had pre-tested them and gave them the grade of A+.

They have quite a tradition, and I just wanted to try them for their historical significance.

They aren't really that hallucinogenic, at least not in small doses anyway. (Though, I never really noticed how wild that latest Gap commercial is.) The effect is somewhat like a less disorientating marijuana intoxication. Nothing like the red-tinted *buzzing* of other magic mushrooms. Interesting, but not really worth going out of your way for.

And I'll try to limit my Uranium intake to less than critical mass, thanks.

Thanks, but I'll stick to single malt.

Try huffing spray paint and hanging out at Starbucks.

tip: Why ruin good clothes with uncontrollable drooling? Poke a large hole in the bottom of a Hefty bag and wear it like a poncho.
