Looks like they miscalculated on both counts.
They certainly did!

I'm sure the anti-Bush crowd will start labeling him weak on defense and insist that we turn Tehran into a field of glass immediately, despite the multilateral resolution and diplomatic efforts that can never go far enough for their tastes.
What you conveniently ignore in your haste to cut a path to the liberal's doorstep to drop off this cargo of Bush administration failures is, Bush shot his (our) wad at Iraq, and it landed on the American people. He has no other meaningful cards or organs in his hand at the moment. Had Bush left Saddam alone some, maybe about the same number or fewer Iraqis would have been tortured in that prison and elsewhere, and some even killed. But we could have been either working dilligently and with the cooperation of our former closest allies in the UN to control the Iran situation, or planning to confront Iran essentially alone. We are years later and not really in a position to do much in the way of unilateral action against Iran. So, we are now depending on the UN. The same UN we ignored at no consequence when they declared their disagreement with our rationale for invading Iraq and we went ahead and invaded. Jim

Ahhh.........don't you have it ass backwards...........getting support from the U.N. and other allies is precisely what GWB failed to do with regard to Iraq.

The idiot has obviously learned from his costly mistake and, as Jim noted, is in no position to repeat his stupidity........even if the Neocons in his administration wanted to.

I think you are confused.

It's Al Gore's fault. If Al Gore had embraced Bill Clinton rather than distance himself from the most successful national Democrat in 50 years he would have won. If he had won none of this other stuff would have happened.

Al Gore, the bastard.
