Goodness, that's silly. They aren't going to gain the release of their soldiers, and the rockets are a response to Israeli aggression. Think it through before forwarding your next hypothesis... We'll be waiting.

By pushing Hezbollah out of southern lebanon until an international force and, ultimately the Lebanese army can restore order.

Having An armed militia on a nations border not responsive to the central government and armed to the teeth with rockets would not be acceptable to any country.

Got it??

Better -- you've certainly made a move toward the truth...

Of course that was a simplistic response although it is their ultimate goal.

The pretext for hezbollah's kidnapping and killing of Israeli soldiers was to initiate a prisoner swap. (The real reason was to take pressure off of Iran which has failed). The pretext that Israel used to invade lebanon was to free their soldiers. (The real reason was to eliminate this mortal threat from their border which they are in the process of doing).

After the dust clears Israel will negotiate the release of lebanese prisoners and will get their soldiers back. South lebanon will be free of an armed Hezbollah. Northern Israel will be free of indiscriminate rocket fire and the Lebanese people will pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.

Hezbollah would never have quit the Lebanese border or disarmed without the use of force.

....

Hey, I didn't know Ahmadinejad was allowed to post here.

If people want to know why Israel invaded Lebanon MBZER above has provided ample justification.

Exactly -- Israel wants a good neighbor in Lebanon, and that is their goal. They were also just pissed off, and as we all know, the Israeli government always reacts when it's pissed off -- typical small guy response -- given their stature in hostile surroundings, it's hard to blame them. And then there are the third-party puppet masters -- it all makes my head spin in a speculative whirl. I've decided that I'm not nearly smart enough to figure it all out, and those who think otherwise are probably fooling themselves.

A very well known local journalist visited my work place to write a story on the effect of the crisis on the local stock exchange. We started chatting; he told me some very new and dangerous stuff in my opinion.
- There is no gasoline in the country; any fuel truck coming from Syria to supply Lebanon will be hit. The sea blockage will continue. In a weak, the country will run out of fuel completely and the electricity will be cut for most of the day.
- He doesn't see a cease-fire in the coming days.
- And this is what I found dangerous the most: An Israeli war-ship was hit 2 days ago off the shore in the south. The missile flew 16km in the air before hitting the target. And the source: North Korea. So now we have a new member in the axis of this crisis: North Korea. Iran and North Korea are joining hands in their fight against the US. I certainly don’t know what to make of all this. Again, this is what he said, I can't confirm if it's true. It could be just an analysis. But what I do know is that we didn’t need a new influence in all that. What we have is already more than enough.
