For quite some time when McCain pandered to the "crazy fuckers" in the Republican Party it never seemed to fit on him very well. As of late it seems to be fitting on him better which makes my stomach turn. A good guy who has joined the system - a pattern of diluting the substance of candidates for the opportunity to win that is too old and too well established to let me believe McCain will be much different than Bush if he wins. It is like hoping he can manage an addiction to smack - not a good prospect.
Gore winning would be a good result for the country, but I think he is too gentle and soft spoken to deal effectively with the Republican Party's election campaign tactics. We will all be distracted by some meaningless story of how he shaved his pubes like the guy in one of those college prank movies when he was 17 years old that is dug up and spread on banners across the country by Rove's operatives. The war, the environment, the economy, or any other significant issue will be blotted out with something to do with his dick. Count on it. And Gore is just too polite to address the issue of being ass fucked by the Republican Party's tactics in public.
I think it would be a better long term tactic to put Dean up and let him rip the whole Republican Party manipulation schemes apart, in public, and make sure the Dems win the House and Senate, while leaving the executive branch to the chances a guy like Dean could make it a Pyrrhic Victory at most for the Repubs. Whatever is done, Hillary has to be used to exhaust the Republican Party viper venom sacs for as long as possible, and then just not participate in the Presidential candidate selection. She has proven she can be a team player in the past and, unfortunately, that is her role now and in the future. Even if she was the perfect candidate, this country won't elect a female, much less one with her ability to cause a stir. So the Dems should use that ability to get the O'Reilly's and Rush's and other losers to spend their time attacking her, demonstrating their shallow, manipulative intents, and then just make it clear at the last minute that she was never in it.
