Of course I dislike Bush, for lots of good reasons. Still, I don't hold him accountable for all of the evils of the world, and have no problem acknowledging the times he does something right. It is absolutely wrong to expend as much energy as the Bush administration does on end-arounds of the U.S. Constitution. It is a slap in the face of every American. Furthermore, it is a primary mandate of the legislative branch to take measures to curtail any perceived abuse of power on the part of the executive branch. So yes, on this issue I side with the Republicans.

Did you feel the same way when it was Bill Clinton Doing it....Or when Hillary did it (filegate). I don't remember your stance about that.

You're dancing in dreamland Bone. On this issue, the current administration has issued more signing statements than all previous administrations combined throughout the history of our nation.

Let's not confuse things with FACTS...

Either hammer it out before the bill comes up, or veto it.
You don't sign it, but treat one part or another as severable.

Here's an accessory to go with your "W" bumper sticker:

The ABA also objects to the change in the purpose of signing statements. Up until Bush, they merely were instructions to various cabinet members on how the law should be implemented, in other words an executive order, which is perfectly legal. Bush is not doing this - he is stating his opinion on the constitutionality of the law, which is the job of the Judicial Branch and not his, and he states which parts of the law he will follow and which part he will not based on his opinion on constitutionalty, which is essentially a line item veto, which is unconstitutional on it's own. Bush puts himself above the law. If it becomes accepted, it is nothing more than rule by Presidential Decree, a major feature of a fascist state.
