Gun control...

Just curious, folks; haven't seen this one addressed on the forum.

What are your views on gun*ownership and gun*control?

Personally I believe there can be reasonable restrictions on the right of a law-abiding citizen to keep and bear arms; for example, I wouldn't agree with either extreme view represented in the next sentence.

So let's run down the list, everything from the UK view (no one except special forces in our law enforcement) to the view that event elementary*school children should be allowed to carry uzis into the classroom.

So, with no further ado, should law-abiding adults be allowed to own:

Revolvers?

How about semi-auto*handguns?

How about fully-automatic*handguns (also called machine*pistols)?

How about rifles?

How about semi-auto rifles?

How about fully-automatic rifles?

How about so-called "assault*weapons", whether fully-automatic or otherwise?

How about shotguns?

How about semi-auto shotguns?

How about historical*weapons (such as flintlocks)?

I want it to be against the law for criminals to have guns. Especially violent criminals. Maybe if we made a law against criminals having guns they'd quit carrying them.

Reminds me of the old bumper sticker: "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns".

I think your post is in jest, because many states prohibit convicted felons from owning firearms. So there's two reasons not to commit felonies: you can't vote, and you can't legally own a gun.

I simply cannot figure out why there is a "gun control" lobby in the first place.

Do these people honestly believe that restricting the use of guns by the public will have a beneficial effect on crime? Can they really be that stupid?

The only reason to restrict guns, as I see it, is to prevent the accidents that are inevitable when guns are lying around the home.

Remember, the average person is a moron and the fact that he possesses a firearm can be deadly to people who might be in proximity to that firearm.

Yes, he should be personally responsible for that firearm..........the argument is valid........and I'd have a hard time supporting the further restriction on owning firearms.

Here in NY, I can't carry a firearm on the street, with the exception of taking it to and from a range. That license takes six months and a pretty thorough background check to obtain. A full carry is impossible without cause.

I wouldn't ever carry a weapon in NY. If I ever had to use it, I'd go to jail for the remainder of my days.........you can nearly bet on it.

Duh!

Well regulated militias should not have their ability to keep and bear arms infringed. The local armory needs to be well-stocked, lest we not have the munitions to repel the invading hordes.

Who defines, "well-regulated militia"? You or Joe Bob or a government commission?
