True....sad fact of war is some innocent people will get hurt. No way around it. But for the greater good you can't let certain elements have their way. Such as Hitler, Tojo...or Islamic extremists.

I hope the administration keeps the American military out of that snake pit.

The number of civilian casualties on both sides would be staggering and to write those folk off with the Bush like “kill them all, kill them now” strategy which has proven to not work for the past five years is just a continuation of a failed war policy.

I agree the mess is not going to be "fixed". It would be nice if the EU would step up, like you say, and show their leadership [and cash] and at least stabilize it to where it is back to where is was pre July 12. More of a contained mess.
